I’ve always been a sucker for a good Kanye West song – just my way of saying me holding him in high regard as a musician has nothing to do with the way he carries himself.
His recent music hasn’t rubbed me the right way but I still listen to his old stuff from College Dropout come right up to Graduation. After he ‘graduated’ though, I don’t know. Just no longer my style. He’s got new fans now. New slaves.
Today’s Daily Prompt asks:
The friendly, English-speaking extraterrestrial you run into outside your house is asking you to recommend the one book, movie, or song that explains what humans are all about. What do you pick?
Of course, only one song naturally comes to mind (and to kill two birds with one stone I’ll feature it as my Flashback Friday track!)
Because somewhere along the way we got caught up in this self-perpetuating cycle that makes us forget, or deny, what is most important in this life.
If you see me, keep going
Be a pass-by waver
Build me up, bring me down
Just leave me out, you name-dropper
Stop trying to catch my eye
I see you good, you forced faker
Just make it easy
You’re my enemy, you fast-talker
I’ve been meaning to include this new category on my blog entitled ‘Flashback Friday: Music of My Childhood’ because the sound of my childhood was oh so sweet, slightly perverted, but sweet.
