Rituals for Breakfast

It’s Christmas Eve morning, or December 24th as I now fondly refer to it.

Unlike downtown Port-of-Spain, MovieTowne is quite dead, like it should be on a Tuesday morning. The only people here are the store clerks buying their morning coffees (something I didn’t know was popular in Trinidad) and a few people, who like myself, seem to not be arsed with all the Christmas hullabaloo that has taken hold of our country.
It’s refreshing to sit here, iPod in my ear people watching.

“1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10” Fiest sings. “Money can’t buy you back the love that you had then.” It’s funny because there’s a RadioShack in my view and this song was featured in one of the Christmas commercials a year or so ago? Ironic.

“Bye bye Ms American Pie, drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry.” My iPod is on a roll this morning!

I kind of like this being alone thing. Mummy pestered me to bring Matthew along on my trip today but he impolitely declined to accompany me. Oh well, I don’t think he’d have enjoyed this anyway.

MovieTowne is quickly getting busy and I should wrap up breakfast and head upstairs to take care of what I really came here to do. I’m nervous because I hope that the Christmas season doesn’t mean that I can’t get my hands on that copy of Sims University. I’ve always told myself that if you see something you want, but it immediately. Too many times I’ve said, “Well I don’t need this now. I’ll be back when I need it.” Then I go back, and you guessed it, it’s all done!

Sigh.
